I AM BILL BASSETT

My Name is Bill Bassett and I am the owner/founder of The Compound. We are the world’s first gym, that focuses exclusively on youth athletes. I am an ISSA Certified Youth Fitness Trainer and the head trainer at the Original Compound in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.

I am a middle school STEM teacher with a Masters Degree in Education, Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and an associates degree in computer science. I have extensive experience coaching and training youth athletes for over 15 years. I am the Head Wrestling Coach at Ranger Pride Wrestling and an assistant coach at Young Guns Wrestling club & Team Pennsylvania. I am currently the strength and conditioning coach for many of the top wrestlers in the country. Our Compound has produced many state champions and home of current USA Wrestling National Champions. I work with youth athletes and all the way through College NCAA National Champions.

At The Compound, we feel our designed workout plans are second to none. We developed workouts to build the strongest, most explosive and mentally toughest athlete. We strive to get each athlete to their maximum athletic potential. Strength is the difference in being Good or being Great!

THE COMPOUND FRANCHISE

The Compound will focus on developing strength, speed and athleticism. We will use a variety of Training Styles and each workout will be different. The workouts will be a combination of Cross-fit, Plyometrics, Olympic Lifts, Speed/Agility, footwork drills and core. The overall goals is to develop bigger, faster, stronger athletes.

ANNUAL FEE

There will not be a percentage of yearly income like most other franchises. **There will be an annual royalty fee on the anniversary date. This fee will be 7K which will equal less than 5% at most locations. This will make it easier everyone.

  8. Location Recommendations
  9. List of must need equipment you will purchase with Militant Metals: Rig, Monkey bars, squat racks, etc) (You will purchase your own equipment with this provider). These prices will be better than anyone’s prices out there and equipment
  10. will be Compound Customized.
  11. List of extra equipment if you can and want to get (You will purchase your own equipment)
  12. Advice on accounting and how to run the business financially
  13. Discuss and explain how you setup your LLC
  14. Introductory meeting and presentation to the owner and team
  15. Explain the insurance we use and you will need

BUILDING/SPACE REQUIREMENT

We want all the gyms to use the same color scheme (Lime Green, Black and Grey) and have a similar gym lay out. Space- the bigger the better.

COMPOUND GEAR

We will run a gear order quarterly and have order forms available for each location. I will allow each owner the opportunity to up charge and make some money per item. I recommend having gear on hand for athletes and parents to purchase. There will be many different athletes coming through the door and they will all want to wear our Logo. Or, If you do a Gear Sale, we would get $2 per item. $500 Gear Royalty fee for the year.

TRAINING

you must have a certified trainer or someone qualified to run the workouts. Helpers won’t need to be certified. Trainers will have to provide their child abuse and criminal clearances. I will provide a tour of my facility and will explain exactly what works for the workouts, warm ups, etc

COMPOUND LOCATIONS

Your Compound will be protected against another Compound being opened too close. (Example if someone puts a Compound in Altoona, I won’t allow another one to be established within the same area or city limits). Each location will be looked at differently, we will take in Consideration the population of the urban areas and mileage for the rural areas. You are investing and coming aboard something special & you will be extremely happy you did. The Compound will be in every city across the country, helping all athletes in every sport. Every time another Compound opens, our brands increases and our Compound family gets larger. Half of the Franchise fee down holds your spot(4K). It gives you access to the Logo for the advertising aspect. You want to build excitement in your area. Now is the time to open one, as the word spreads and more Compounds open, the demand will greatly increase. I am sure the franchise costs will increase for those coming on board in the future.

MEET OUR TRAINER

Matthew Serd,

NCSF-CPT, NCSF-Sports Nutritionist, Precision Nutrition Pn1 Coach.

A graduate from Illinois State University, BS Finance & Business Administration. Matthew is the owner of Brownsburg Fitness Inc. and Progressive Fitness LLC Personal Training.

Matthew is a 20+ year resident of Brownsburg Indiana, owner of Brownsburg Fitness for 9+ years, a Professional NGA and WNBF Master’s Bodybuilder, and has been in the fitness industry for over 17 years.

He has extensive experience training youth athletes, and currently is the strength coach for 2x USA Wrestling National Champion. Matthew also trains 3x NHRA Top Fuel Champion Antron Brown. As a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor, I enjoy helping individuals meet their fitness and nutritional goals and creating a healthier and happy life for them. I have the knowledge and skill level to work with individuals of all age groups and fitness levels.

Jack Bassett,

NCSF-CPT, NCSF-Sports Nutritionist, Precision Nutrition Pn1 Coach.

one of the head trainers at the original compound in Johnstown Pa. Jack was a scholarship football athlete for four years at clarion university where he obtained a bachelor's degree in elementary education and minor in coaching. Entering his ninth year teaching 1st grade, Jack is very passionate about academics and athletics.

Over the past 12 years he has coached various division-1 football players. He is currently an assistant wrestling coach at Ranger Pride Wrestling.

Jack brings great work ethic, enthusiasm, and desire to the compound family.

ABOVE THE SHOULDER TRAINING

This is something I strongly believe in and know that it makes a huge impact on athletes lives. The constant reminder, positive message or just a quick talk about character could be more important than the actual strength workout.

PHYSICAL SPACE

I honestly think first impressions is everything with a gym. I really took my time getting my space ready. I brought a professional painter and had a company design custom logo/lettering stickers. I do recommend you spending some time and money in this area. The color of the gym will be Electric Lime (SW6921), Grey (SW7076), your choice of Black and White. We have a wrestling mat in our gym for the agilities and warmups. This is optional, but strongly recommended. Our goal is to build the best athletes we can and the agilities/gymnastics is a huge part of that. I would have a refrigerator or water cooler and have water available. I recommend having a pro-shop with Compound gear and Compound Lab Supplements.. New athletes and parents are very eager to purchase Compound gear and supplements when they sign up. This will also be available when you have walk-in athletes. The more gear and supplements purchased the better, because it spreads the logo in your area. I honestly feel word of mouth and logo recognition is the strongest source of advertising.

COMPOUND EQUIPMENTS

We are requiring the equipment to be purchased through Militant Metals. They will be able to get you everything you need to get your location started. They will also be providing equipment cheaper than you will find anywhere. Militant Metals will also allow locations to purchase extra equipment after the location is opened. Some of the equipment will be branded with the Compound Logo on it. Militant Metals will also be able to customize your rig and make it exactly the way you want it and make it completely custom to fit your unique space.

COMPOUND LABS SUPPLEMENTS

At each location, the Compound Labs supplements will be offered. Each location will have a chance to make money on their sales of the supplements. I recommend explaining the importance of why athletes use and should incorporate supplements into their workouts and life.

THE DOG DAY SUMMER WORKOUT

We love to get outside and workout. The athletes really enjoy summer time, outside workouts.
Summer time is the perfect time to change things up a little. Especially, if you feel the the workouts seem stale or the group just needs something different to fire them up. Now that doesn’t mean you forget about the regular Compound strength program. Occasionally add one of these workouts for something outside and it will motivate the athletes tremendously.
